Happy Anniversary, to you both!!! Thanks for the food tips, as we will be meeting cousins (driving the EV) in Blowing Rock for the afternoon this summer. BTW, I’m still sharing your blogs in our church newsletter——the information you provide is excellent. Thank you!

Thanks so much for these thoughtful and helpful travel suggestions. Andrea and I did our travel to far away places earlier in our marriage, so exploring locations nearby is where our thinking is at these days. We don’t have a hybrid or EV, so keeping the mileage low is a priority. We have rented small houses before, and would readily do that again in order to be more in control of our energy consumption. We bring our own food for most of our meals, and eat out as a special occasion. Once we are at our destination, the car doesn’t get used much at all, as we usually choose to pick places where we can hike or walk. We do more staycationing than we used to, where we can really be more in charge of energy use. Traveling doesn’t need to be a guilt producing experience when done in the conscientious manner that you suggest. I think it’s rather a more enjoyable time when you’re doing it with the intention of reducing your carbon footprint.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I fully agree that once Celeste & I are at a destination, I view a "good day" as one when we simply don't get in a car at all.
